Read this before the numbers: 298.666… MHz is the synchroniser-derived display ceiling at the default 112 MHz TIM2CLK. It is not a promise that every clone and every waveform counts accurately at that edge. Above 224 MHz the firmware marks each reading MHz EXP ; near the ceiling the margin disappears and a rejected gate is the honest outcome. Verify against a known source.
